Most of us know what we’re supposed to eat to reach our health and fitness goals right? You know, things like whole foods, lean protein, complex carbohydrates, and lots of fruits and veggies. But do you know how you eat is important too?
As moms and busy people, we don’t have a lot of time to eat. We’re usually scarfing down our lunch as we clean up messes, break up fights, and try to make sure our little ones are getting more food in their mouths than on the floor.
For those without children or working adults tend to eat in between meetings, conference calls or in their cars.
Unfortunately, gorging on food is not an ideal thing to do when we want to lose weight and feel great. In fact, we’re supposed to eat slowly and chew everything until it’s liquid. But let’s be honest, most of us probably struggle with this.
WHY WE SHOULD EAT MORE SLOWLY.
Eating too fast can lead to digestive issues. Our digestion begins in the mouth and it’s important to chew our food properly to aid in the overall digestive process. Which means less gas, bloating, and stomach upset.
For those of us with weight loss goals eating more slowly also allows our brains and bodies to better communicate and helps us to avoid overeating. We should ideally eat until satisfied not stuffed but that’s hard to do when we eat too quickly.
